Join us on Wednesday, 16 April 2025, at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for a full day of exploring Open Science, organized by the Cognitive Sciences: Cognition and the Mind master’s programme!
Whether you're new to Open Science or already an expert, this event offers lectures, workshops, and activities designed to expand your knowledge and skills.
All activities will be free and conducted in English. Everyone who attends a lecture or workshop will receive a certificate of attendance.
Coffee and snacks will be provided in the lectures, workshops and demonstration.

Please sign up here10.00 - 10.45 | Room 206 "Why Do You Need Open Science, and Why Does Open Science Need You?" Dr. Ljerka Ostojić will take us on a journey through an undergraduate and Masters level programme to explore where we might encounter or benefit from Open Science tools. We will also look into how students can get involved in Open Science initiatives.
11.15 - 12.00 | Room 106 "From an Open Curious Student to an Openness Scholar" Dr. Ivan Flis will take us through his own story with Open Science – from his student days and Open Access publishing through working on replication crisis and finally also working on critiquing aspects of the replication crisis narrative. We will also look into career venues for Open Science scientists and scholars.
13:00 - 14:30 | Grass in front of faculty Open Science Board Games Note: in case of bad weather the event will be moved to Room 325 Try out an Open Science game designed by Cognitive Science students as part of their Philosophy of Science course. This game sparks discussions on various philosophical and ethical topics related to Open Science, challenging you to think critically, debate, and learn a bit.
15:00- 16:30 | Room 325 Build Your Open Science Pokémon Try out building Pokémon out of Lego to learn about open workflows and reproducibility. Based on the LEGO® Metadata for Reproducibility
17:00 - 18:00 | Room 348 Try out cognitive science gadgets, learn how eye-tracking and VR are used in research Meet and chat with other researchers and students over coffee, tea and cookies.
19:00 - 21:00 | Kvarnerić Test your knowledge in a Pub Quiz, featuring a mix of (Open) Science trivia and general knowledge.
